[PLUG] samba problem?

I have no idea if this is related to my hald problem.

I have some windows shares mounted on the branch /mnt/chubby. They
are /mnt/chubby/art_docs, /mnt/chubby/art_desktop, and /mnt/chubby/arthur.
They used to mount at bootup. I also have a script that mounts them manually
called /usr/local/bin/mount_chubbyall.sh

They are not mounting. mount_chubbyall.sh results in

Could not resolve mount point /mnt/chubby/arthur
Could not resolve mount point /mnt/chubby/art_docs
Could not resolve mount point /mnt/chubby/art_desktop

after a considerable lag.

ls /mnt/chubby produces

art_desktop art_docs arthur

instantly.

ls -l /mnt/chubby again produces a long lag, and then

?--------- ? ? ? ? ? /mnt/chubby/art_desktop
?--------- ? ? ? ? ? /mnt/chubby/art_docs
?--------- ? ? ? ? ? /mnt/chubby/arthur

I can browse the shares on this machine from the windows machine easily, and
can browse the windows shares from this machine with konqueror using the
smb:/ protocol, but can't mount them.

If it is related, I note that ~/Documents and ~/Desktop are browsable but only
after the usual long lag. Non-kde apps, like firefox take a long time to
display file dialogs for any directory.
