At this point, the only reason I still have a PC is to play games on (servers on Linux, regular machine is a MacBook Pro). The video on this T43 is hitting the wall on some of the more demanding games (like CoD2) at higher resolutions (like 1680x1050). So, I've resolved to build an XPC game system, leaving the Thinkpad in search of a home. Your home sounds lovely. It's outfitted very nicely, I think you'll like it. The specs: CPU: Pentium-M 1.86 Ghz RAM: 2GB DDR2 HDD: Seagate 100GB (*) Optical: DVD+/-RW (the IBM "multi-burner" - DVD +/-R +/-RW, CD-R/RW) Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0+EDR built in Wifi: Intel 2200, 802.11b/g built-in Ethernet: Broadcom 10/100/1000 built-in Modem: 56k built-in Slots: 1 ExpressCard/54 (also takes /34 cards), 1 CardBus (aka PCMCIA) Video: ATI Radeon Mobility X300 with 64MB RAM Display: 14.1" LCD (1400x1050 resolution) Security Dev: Fingerprint reader & TPM module Includes 1 extra battery (a $50 value, $100 at retail!) Under Linux, I don't believe the fingerprint reader or tpm modules work at this time. Ubuntu works great on this machine, wifi & bluetooth included. If you'd like, I'll install your choice of Ubuntu (Dapper or Edgy) or Windows XP. The only thing to note about the HDD is that since it's not an "officially sanctioned" IBM drive, the system displays a quick warning at boot time about the drive. The warning simply says it's not a supported drive. The drive works perfectly fine, however, and the warning can be ignored. I can't make the warning go away because it's built into the system's BIOS, and there is no way to make it go away in there. The system is in excellent condition and has been very well cared for. On eBay, the T43 seems to go for around $1000 for similarly configured systems that don't include the port replicator. Asking $1000 for the whole lot, port replicator and all. I'm located in Marlton, and prefer to do local meetups. Please respond off-list. ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
