Re: [PLUG] dynamic IP and economics

Kevin,
When I got Voicenet DSL in 2001, the ISP/DSL/CLEC were
Voicenet/Covad/Verizon. At some point that changed to
Voicenet/Verizon/Verizon.
Yeah, FIOS is recently available. I may switch. Sounds like the same
price, but much faster.

Doug,
What speed are you getting for that price? I've been with Voicenet
for years and am currently paying about $100/month for 768/768 with
10 static IPs (of which I really only need 2-3). Service and support
have been pretty good. Only problem is that the DSL router seems to
stall out and need resetting (cycle power) occasionally.
Who provides the DSL line with Voicenet?
Speakeasy charges about $100 for 1.5/768 static w/2 IPs on Covad lines
in my area. I've heard you can get a slightly better deal than that,
$90/mo for being a longer term customer.
Note that Verizon FIOS static business 5M/2M is also around $100/mo. So
Sorry, a small correction here. At least in my area, base business FIOS
is 15M/2M. If you get a price quote on dynamic IP business FIOS, you'll
find that static prices are $40+ the dynamic price listed on the web
site. So the 15M/2M package is $59+40, or $109 on a 2 year contract.
That's the lowest priced static IP package.
