Re: [PLUG] PVR-500 dual analog tuner $107 on eBay

I use that card and love it. I'm going back and forth on if I should get another one, a homerun hd or just get a FireWire cable box. Only thing I see with the auction is it lacks the extra backpanel composite/ s-video/audio thing(which I don't even use). I use the remote that came with my silverstone lc20m. I like having a display on my myth box. On a completely unrelated note myth2ipod rocks! It's nice undocking my phone this morning and having heroes and journeyman waiting for me. Although getting to do 640x480 vic was a pain.

A vote against for it is you are using non intel/nvida chipset motherboards. There is known issues with hauppauge cards and some via/ Ali/sis chipsets. So look into that before going that route.

With remote control: http://www.haupauge.com/pages/products/data_pvr500mcekit.html

I don't need the remote and don't feel like being bothered with Paypal, but this is a good deal! It's used, but for $100+7 is a good deal since the best new I've found is: $150: http://www.provantage.com/hauppauge-model-253~7HAUP12E.htm

I'm getting the san-remote version for $125: http://www.provantage.com/hauppauge-1081~7HAUP128.htm

PVR-500 tuner
-------------
Dual *analog* tuner on a single PCI card
Pro:
2 tuners, single PCI card
Composite (RCA) and s-vid in
Con:
Analog
There is only 1 CATV in and the splitter is internal; the other coax is FM ant. That's good for my cable/splitter situation but bad for flexibility. :-/
