Ok. #1: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21376597/ #2: I've been having some problems with my Comcast connection as of late, i.e. 20%-40% packet loss. After some extended half-baked efforts on their behalf to troubleshoot the problem, I *remembered* that Comcast (and other ISPs) does selectively discriminate against bandwidth hogs of all sorts. It doesn't matter what your filesharing protocol of choice is, they will cut your bandwidth. After all, what do you expect from the ISP who says you are not permitted to run VPN tunnels using their service? In the end, the outage will work out to be a plus for me because I complained to them about the outage and will get a credit for it, especially since I did waste an inordinate amount of time trying to get this issue resolved (including taking time off of work to meet with a field tech). Since I do actually use the internet for business-related work, the credit will be justified. If they're too inept or inaccurate to identify my bandwidth usage as the reason for the outage, then too bad for them. I understand the limitations of using residential broadband to download and seed torrents. That's why I primarily use my dedicated server for the task ;). The issue ultimately boils down to the question of which evil ISP do you want to give your money to?
