It's not the 'right suse' way of doing it, but you should be able to add your DNS servers to /etc/resolv.conf. The gateway can be added with something like: route add default gw 192.168.0.1 > > once i connect, can i (re)install right from > the novell site. You would probably be better off downloading one of the opensuse cd images, booting off of it, and initiating a repair. > > i know some distros do a core install, > and then go out to the internet to install packages. > You can install _all_ of opensuse off the net, you just have to download a ~70Mb mini-install iso. Though I don't see one available for 10. 10 is like 2 years old now anyway. You might think of just backing up your data and installing a fresh suse. http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/iso/SUSE-Linux-10.1-GM-i386-mini.iso (you really don't want 10.1 though it was buggy) http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/iso/cd/openSUSE-10.2-GM-i386-mini.iso http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/iso/cd/openSUSE-10.3-GM-i386-mini.iso -Bob > thanks in advance > > ron > > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org > Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce > General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
