Unfortunately, the usual industry shenanigans are on full display when it comes to "wireless security". Just like it was decided to rename their old USB 1.1 parts "USB 2.0 High-Speed", it was decided to make several different things called "WPA", only one of which is actually secure. Naturally, it's the least common, which probably has to do with the fact that it's more expensive to implement. And Linux users are in even more trouble, since instead of putting AES chips in their wireless cards, you can bet manufacturers willl try to offload the work onto the CPU using binary-blob firmwares and other nonsense.
