turns out he's not a newbie (he mailed me off-list); he's even taught it a while back. it was just a while since he's touched FC, from what i can tell. but i definitely second CentOS. it's in my list of recommended distros/OSes for servers. (the full list: debian - all-around multi-purpose server centos - database hosting, compiling, etc. gentoo - compiling (esp. cross-platform compiling) slackware - multi-purpose (better cross-platform support- albeit unofficial, ideal for "server-specialized" hardware i.e. ARM arch, etc.) openbsd - security (only had 2 remote holes in the default install in the last TEN+ YEARS! nobody else can make that claim)) On Nov 5, 2007 9:31 PM, Brian Vagnoni <
