Certainly, just don't expect any of the CDMA carriers (like Verizon) to not laugh in your face, then kick out of the store. Also, you can expect the phone companies to do whatever they can to thwart this device, either through government radio spectrum regulation, or some other means. I'd expect to see the open-phone efforts having an easier time in Europe or Asia, where GSM is the ONLY way and the carriers don't have the same kind of stranglehold on the device market as they do here. My best bet would be to go for T-Mobile, since they're just the US branch of Deutsche Telekom and thus more used to the European way of doing things. Attachment:
