[PLUG] OpenOffice 2.4 bug in Hardy?

Is anyone else having this problem?  I have it on two computers I've upgraded 
to Hardy & OOo 2.4.

I can't edit documents saved in Word format.  I can open them.  I can create 
new ones and save them.  But if I close them saved in Word format and reopen 
them OOo 2.4 treats them as read-only.

Doesn't seem to be an issue with the Windows version of OOo.  I don't run OOo 
2.4 on another Linux distro, so I can't tell if it is Ubuntu-only or 
OOo-Linux.

This is a collaboration nightmare.
