Thanks, Tim.  I did know about it and have installed it on some computers, 
especially since OOo stopped working in Windows.  I had tried to do a bit of 
social engineering by getting people used to using OOo in hopes of never 
going to another MS version.

I guess the reason for my post here is to find out if anyone heard of a patch 
that "accidentally" broke this feature.  Nothing I could find googling, but 
I'm seeing it happen here.
