To maintain thread continuity it would have to be
a search and replace. Take a name, pgp key,
e-mail address and replace it with anonymous or
something similar.

This should be a trivial operation in Linux.

If you don't want people to know who you are, just make a new email, and post with a nom de plume. Why waste time writing some goofy sed script. GMail accounts are free.
