[PLUG] searching through kernel features

Is there any efficient way to find when a particular kernel feature or
configuration option was introduced?
I was recently asked to find out why an option was not enabled in a
kernel. It turns out that the option was introduced in a later kernel
version, but it took me a bit of time to come to that conclusion - I
ended up googling with 'site:kerneltrap.org'.
