I have taken a Verizon Blackberry as far as getting to the browser
screen where Verizon says I must sign up to pay a greater monthly fee
if I want to use my Blackberry for tethered access to the Internet.

Courtesy Google, I found scripts I tweaked to connect via ppp for my USB dongle.
