It sure sounds like it's related, but the "Automatically partition 
storage devices using LVM" part leads me to believe that it's, well, for 
the automatic side rather than the manual side.  It's certainly possible 
it'll fix both though.  I can hope.

I guess I should have mentioned that I did look for bug reports, and the 
ones I found were a) older and b) closed as "won't fix" after snotty 
replies from maintainers to the effect of: too bad, deal with it.

Huh, "fun-partman-lvm" fork anyone...  ;-)
