Re: [PLUG] Verizon FiOS?

Is he saying you have to use coaxial, or that you have to use ethernet
with their router?

If he's willing to run ethernet, let him install the router. Make sure
he runs an ethernet line, either instead of or as well as coaxial. You
want internet over ethernet. Besides that, let him set up the
Actiontek to his heart's content.

After he's gone, copy down the mac address of the actiontek they
installed. Unplug their router, plug in yours. The connection is just
dhcp. Change the mac address of your router to be the mac address of
the actiontek.

If he's telling you he can run nothing but coaxial, he just doesn't
want to do it. Maybe he has no cat 5 on his truck, or he's
misinformed, or he doesn't know how to couple ethernet.
