Another thing Eric could do is have them add a second ONT as they do at businesses. Have the home TV/Phone account under your spouses name, and have the Internet under a your name or a business name. Get your 5 static ip's and be server legal on their network.
Sometimes you have to hack/create a solution to get what you want.
