Truer words have ne'er been spoken. jQuery is precisely how JS-affecting-a-DOM-tree should work. It's easy to learn, particularly if you already grok CSS selectors, AND it plays nice with "greedy" libs like Prototype or MooTools that love smothering the useful $() object in their grasping clutches.
