When I got DSL almost two years ago I had the offer for a wireless router or what looked like a modem but turned out to be a wired router with a built-in modem (I believe it's a Verizon-rebranded Westell 6100.). It took a little tinkering, but I managed to set the modem/router combo to a bridge (effectively making it just a modem) and use my own router. Depending on your area, you will have to set your own router up with either PPPoE with your primary account username and password, or just plain old DHCP. I've set Verizon PPPoE up with Linksys routers before (using stock Linksys firmware, DD-WRT, and Tomato) and had no trouble. I know almost all routers come with a PPPoE option, and have since forever, so Buffalo router should be no different. --Gordon Doug Crompton wrote: > I am anticipating bringing up a Verizon DSL connection and have a > question.
