[PLUG] Hide sshfs Desktop icons but not others?

I'm trying to find a way to hide Desktop icons for sshfs but not USB
keys, CDs, music players, etc. in Gnome/Nautilus.

I tend to use sshfs mounts from the CLI for semi-permanent stuff and I
don't want to be bothered with the clutter on my desktop. But I *do*
want to see USB and other removable stuff pop up, so the most common
Google hit for turning off the Nautilus "show_deskop" setting like this
kills all of them, which is more than I want:
gconftool-2 --set /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop --type bool 1

http://gnomesupport.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=54038&sid=d1a8fb73b585530a5378a43fe8f5c4e8#54038
suggests a
/usr/local/share/hal/fdi/preprobe/95userpolicy/10ignore-disks.fdi file,
and I created one listing '/dev/fuse' but that didn't work. I did
restart HAL but did not reboot, and I'm not 100% sure that '/dev/fuse'
is the right thing.

Other solutions suggest mounting to a .dir which didn't work, or
mounting to /mnt instead of /media, which is not a solution for me since
I want to mount in $HOME anyway.

Anyone have another idea?

Thanks,
JP

"Microsoft Tax" = the additional hardware & yearly fees for the add-on
software required to protect Windows from its own poorly designed and
implemented self, while the overhead incidentally flattens Moore's Law.
