acetylene torch + lighter fluid = (erased floppies|claim on fire insurance)

but no, if the stuff is still able to be read, might want to look into
the DBAN disk [1] or the shred(1) utility. i believe it should be in
coreutils so it should already be installed regardless of your distro.

if they can't be read, you'd be better off physically destroying them.
(well, you're ALWAYS better off physically destroying them...)
