Are you sure they're blocking them? I have (and have had for quite a while) an apache 2.2.x server running on port 80?? This message was sent from my Treo® wireless handheld device. -----Original Message----- From: Mike Cahill <mcahill@ducrows.org> Sent: Tuesday, August 04, 2009 2:58 PM To: Philadelphia Linux User's Group Discussion List <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> Subject: Re: [PLUG] Hosting on compast Matt, I know that Comcast does not block ports 80 (http), 22 (ssh/sftp), and 443 (https) (as I have my own server up and running). If simple web hosting is what you're looking to do (with access to db from the pages) you would be fine with having 3306 limited to listening for localhost or other internal machines. Mike Cahill -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [PLUG] Hosting on compast From: Matthew Berlin <arkestra@gmail.com> Date: Tue, August 04, 2009 11:49 am To: plug@lists.phillylinux.org I have my personal http, ftp, and mysql server set up and ready to go. Comcat blocks all relevant ports. I would love to host this all myself, but do not want to pay the additional $50/month comcast charges for a business account (static IP and unblocked 80, 22, etc.). Is there another ISP in the Westchester/Philly area that has this included with basic service, or at least less than an additional $50? Thanks in advance, - Matt ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
