Yeah.. not what I was hoping for :-P I have spent the night working on jabberd2 and the hardy package is an absolute mess.

it's probably not the answer you're looking for, but we've been looking
at openfire as a possible replacement for ejabberd. the only problem: you
have to be okay (and have the server hw to support it) with a big ass
heap of java running the service.
