I have dual 22" monitors and 4 virtual desktops so I just open up as many xterms as I need. I still use xterm because it's just so dang easy to cut/paste and change settings with a flick of the mouse and a tap of the ctrl key. Plus, after nearly 20 years of using them they are second nature.
