Is the system monitor polling resources inside your home network, or
resources on the internet?
If the resources are on the internet, I'd have a 3rd party service
handle your network monitoring. Pingdom and others can do SMS alerts,
and they have polling locations around the globe so that the solution is
robust. Unlike a single residential internet connection.
