This was my first suspicion.  But I have the latest tools available for vSphere 
4.  Also other team members accessing these servers from windows workstations 
running on hardware don't have the problem.  

I am thinking that it is a combination of this and the multiple layers of USB 
interrupts as Casey pointed out.
