Our backend runs on Linux with plans to virtualize using Xen Here's the job description The Network System Administrator will serve as the primary resource to architect, design, deliver, and maintain our DEVELOPMENT, TEST, and PRODUCTION Environments. This position has full responsibility for administering all environment.. You will work independently to research and implement innovative solutions to improve overall system performance. The environment is fast-paced, deadline driven, while supporting multiple, concurrent projects. Job Responsibilities: 1.Upgrades, installs and troubleshoots networks, networking hardware devices and software 2.Upgrades, installs and troubleshoots desktops, laptops 3.Maintains inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activities 4.Develops and documents system standards for computer and network devices 5.Recommend and schedule repairs to the LAN/WAN 6.E-mail/Internet/ Systems Support Establishes and maintains user e-mail accounts; manages anti-spam and anti-virus servers; researches and troubleshoots e-mail problems by reviewing mail logs, records, and network configurations; establishes and maintains user vpn accounts; provides vpn support including end-user setup, problem solving; provides solutions to customer identified problems Skills: 1.Handles highly confidential information/material 2.Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner 3.Prior experience supporting, implementing and/or administering networks such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory 4.Knowledge of Linux servers, Red Hat 5, JBOSS, Apache, Tomcat, Web Load Balancers, Tape Backup and related network and desktop products 5.Ability to administer a 50+ node network including firewalls setup and administration 6.Ability to support networked printers, photocopiers and other devices 7.Working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies 8.Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors 9.Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously 10.Facilitation and change management skills 11.Strong analytical skills 12.Works well both alone or in a team setting ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
