[PLUG] "You are not expected to understand this." |
At my talk at Central Wednesday night, I made an offhand reference to the above source code comment as present in V6 Unix, as part of the origins of the fork() call, and promised a link to the code. Here's that link: http://minnie.tuhs.org/cgi-bin/utree.pl?file=V6/usr/sys/ken/slp.c . Look in swtch() (classic K&R C here, get out your First Editions!) for the comment, and additionally look at newproc() and its comments for some insight into how it works. Really quite genius, and a testament to the engineering that went into early Unix. -- Thanks and best regards, Chris Nehren ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
