I don't know what used netbooks are now selling for, but with 2.5 inch
Sata drives for 250Gb and up beginning at under  $50 at MicroCenter,
it's a no-brainer to just replace the drive.  With most netbooks, it's
not all that difficult to open up the case and install the new one.  If
she plans on selling said netbook, likely she can get over $100 at a
minimum for a working one.
