[PLUG] PLUG West, Mon, Jul 18, 2011 - "GT.M" presented by Roger Partridge (7pm at FIS in Malvern) |
The Philadelphia Area Linux Users Group (PLUG) cordially invites you to a PLUG West meeting on Monday, July 18 at FIS in Malvern, PA from 7-9 pm. See below for directions to the meeting location. This month PLUG West welcomes Roger Partridge, who will be giving a talk on GT.M. FIS GT.M (http://fis-gtm.com) is a NoSQL (key-value) database available on Linux as free / open source software (AGPL v3). The code base is mature, and it is used around the world in banking and health care with the largest production databases extending to a few TB. The GT.M data store can model all four of the common use cases of NoSQL databases. Given the limitations of the CAP Theorem for distributed applications, GT.M implements Eventual Path Consistency rather than the Eventual State Consistency provided by other database engines. Eventual Path Consistency is a stronger form of consistency than Eventual State Consistency. Interested in Linux, BSD, and Free Software? Whether you're already an enthusiast or want to learn more, come and join us! PLUG meetings are free and open to everyone, and anyone who is curious is invited to attend. The meeting will be at the FIS office in Malvern, PA: FIS http://www.fidelityinfoservices.com/fnfis/ 2 West Liberty Blvd, Suite 300 Malvern, Pennsylvania 19355 For driving directions, please visit http://www.phillylinux.org/locations/fnis.html For more information about PLUG, please visit our website at http://www.phillylinux.org Following the meeting, we'll continue the conversation at a nearby restaurany, usually either Baxter's (across PA-29 from the meeting location) or TJ's in Paoli. ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
