[PLUG] using dpkg to update a package |
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I use virtual box installed from a downloaded .deb file I want to replace virtualbox-4.0_4.0.4-70112_Ubuntu_lucid_i386.deb with virtualbox-4.1_4.1.4-74291~Ubuntu~lucid_i386.deb Is there a single command that will replace the existing 4.0 package with 4.1 or do I have to remove the old one first? I was thinking that dpkg --update-avail might be right but the description seems more like it updates the ->package<- instead of the installed software.
