Yup, I think $() is easier to read and nest. But you will still mostly see `` and $() isn't very "portable" (if I can even use that word in relation to shell scripts :).


(And I'm not bored, don't know about everyone else)

Cool. There is a wide mix of folks on the list and at meetings, and it's sometimes hard to judge what's useful and what everyone already knows.
