Re: [PLUG] Tonight's topic?

Sorry that I had to bail before the pizza, so I didn't get an opportunity to introduce myself. I enjoyed the meeting and the group and I'm looking forward to future meetings!

Here are some links to a few of the topics that ESR mentioned:

Buffer bloat i.e. fixing Internet congestion by attacking inefficient queueing mechanisms. (Seems to be a good video explanation on this site: http://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/bloat)

GPS Hardware: Getting an accurate time measurement to determine the extent of buffer bloat. Related to the gpsd efforts here: http://catb.org/gpsd/hardware.html

Culture Hacking or the art of naming existing good practices, based on ESR's Ground Truth Document blog post: http://esr.ibiblio.org/?p=4532

We heard a cautionary tale of over-engineering, based on the CIA IRC notification service, http://esr.ibiblio.org/?p=4538

And lastly, this book came up in discussion, and I can't remember how :) I think it was related to culture hacking: http://www.amazon.com/The-Culture-Game-Tools-Manager/dp/0984875301/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346929668&sr=8-1&keywords=the+culture+game
