It is just the utter lack of a decent web-based MUA for Linux that keeps me away more than anything else. I could use K9 or even the AOSP email app on the mobile side. Oh, I guess one other requirement for a desktop client would be syncing with Google contacts. I used to use a plugin for this on Thunderbird. It wasn't perfect, but it worked.
