[PLUG] Spanning volumes with LVM (Ubuntu) |
Hi all, I broke down and bought a new computer to use as a Mythtv backend. It came with a 1TB drive and I added 2x3TB drives. I am now trying to span the 3 drives with LVM by following the instructions here: http://www.tutonics.com/2012/11/ubuntu-lvm-guide-part-1.html I installed the OS (Ubuntu 13.04) to the 1TB drive. When I did the vgextend for the first 3TB drive it only extended by 2TB. I saw something along the way that there was a 2TB limit for MSDOS (FAT,etc.) drives, but should not be a problem for ext2/3/4. I suspect this command may be the problem when preparing the whole disk for LVM: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=512 count=1 Where I might need a larger block size. Gparted reports the file system of the 3TB volume as "lvm2 pv". Any ideas what I need to do to see the entire 3TB, as well as the second 3TB drive which I have not even started on. Thanks, Eric ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
