I could spend some time giving some case-studies and lessons learned in years of troubleshooting Asterisk problems. Some of the more interesting finds/fixes involve

* hunting the source of disk IO load on a server (always fairly elusive)
* looking for packet loss on your server when the network is fine.
* The joys of multi-threaded processes and the deadlocks they cause.

I'd think most of this stuff would be generally applicable to running and tuning services of all types.

The real question is can I make it coherent and short. I think I can.
