I live in Bucks County (Yardley/Morrisville) so I'm about 30 miles from Philly and about 50 miles from NYC. I get broadcast channels from both cities. I bought an AmazonBasics antenna that is amplified. They advertise 50 miles range and I have no complaints. Paid about $50 for it. It's attached the wall behind my TV, can't even see it.

I could install a real antennae in my attic, but that would entail running
antennae wire, and then I'd have to choose between Philly and Lancaster
stations.

How does this square with y'all's experiences? Is it expected that I'd have
so much trouble getting reception at 40 miles from the source? OK, I know
that line-of-sight is always preferable for TV & radio, but this seems
ridiculous.

Anybody have any comments or suggestions?
