Tried again to install to the back partition of this machine.  This time, instead of an ash I have 
a bash.  More commands but it does not recognize the cdrom nor the ethernet connection.  
Nothing in fstab.  I would also like a gui.  How do I get there in this century?
It's been awhile since I have had to work from bash without choice.
