Re: [PLUG] FCC to subsidize broadband for low income households

Douglas & Keith

Thanks for the reminder guys,

Check this out: Comcast call 1hr. ago. @ Internet Essentials #.
Me:  I would like to apply for internet. But I don't have a child on the " free lunch program ". ( requirement )
Comcast: Sure,  your address please.
( 20 minutes and rep. can't repeat back my address correctly)
Me: please put your supervr. on thanks.
Comcast: sure - hold please (5 minutes later)
Rep: my supervisor said.....
Me: no no no I need to speak w. your supervisor now.( 5 minutes later)
Suprvr-Aron id. # 4978: how can I help you?
Me: repeat back my address please. (he gets it right)
To end this saga of an hour; Comcast doesn't cover my area but WindStream does.
Question to PLUG:  Do all ISPs have a similar Fed. program or plan they must provide for the " economically disadvantaged ", or broke folks ?
Thanks

This is pretty cool, and sounds like it might go hand-in-hand with the low-cost Internet that Comcast offers to financially disadvantaged households:

When I grew up, it was school lunches.  Now, it's Internet connectivity.  How times have changed. :-)
