Re: [PLUG] Fall 2015 presentation schedule

Ok, thanks for that.  We make need to update the location too.  I'm still now sure where West is meeting at this point.  PLUG North's (Coredial's) address is also wrong on the calendar.  Not that I need it anymore but navigation on my phone keeps wanting to take me somewhere else.

Ok. I wanted to bring it to your attention that the Google Calendar states that the meeting would be on Monday November 16, 2015. However, the PLUG website says November 17. Since West meets on Monday, I’d assume the November 16, 2015 is correct.

Kyle, its yours!  Thanks!

Mike DePaulo... can you do your Cygwin presentation at Central in November or is that too much?  I see you now have two other slots on the calendar.

Yeah, that sounds good. I can do November.

Kyle, as it stands now, we have Dec PLUG Norith open and November and December for PLUG West.

Would you be ready for November @ West?

Well, great! I’m glad it makes sense for the group. There are great examples of FOSS in my printer and many more similar printers. It’s a great resource. I’ll be glad to put a presentation together. I’m not sure of the schedule, but I attend North and West and then could take it on to Central if needed as well.

I'd say we're naturally FOSS centric with Linux being a big part of that.

This would be good too actually.  Most of the 3D printing controller boards are ARM SBC or Arduino's so I think its a good exposure to not only the 3D printer tech but also to ARM or Arduino hardware.

Plus who doesn't like "show and tell".

I'm in.

I like 3D printing and have been working towards building a reprap in the future. Learning more from a linux-centric POV would interest me quite a bit.
And it's my understanding that we're Linux-centric, not Linux-exclusive. I'd imagine related things are fine as long as Windows and OSX don't come into it. We had a great presentation on Chromebooks and CROUTON not too long ago, and I remember that being very popular.

I have no presentation prepared or even fully thought through. However, since I’m new (to linux and the group) and would like to contribute, I was thinking I could put together one for how I’m using linux to operate my 3D printer. I hesitate because the amount of core linux content could be brief and the topic would most likely stray. However, if desired, it’s something that I would do. There’s also a possibility of me bringing in the printer for show and tell.

I'm about 75% done with a presentation on the open source networking Swiss Army Knife, Netdisco. I can present at West, certainly by October or later. I'm not promising much but it is a heck of a tool.

We still have some a number of slots open for talks so if you are interested in doing a presentation or have an idea for one, respond here so we can get the presenters and dates locked in so there is enough time to prepare.

For myself, I will be doing "Virtualizing Bare-Metal Systems with QEMU" @ PLUG-Central for October 2015

I also have two other talks that haven't been confirmed yet...

"Screencasting, Recording and Conversation techniques with FFmpeg" @ PLUG-West for October 2015 ?? (FIS or ATS?)
"Building VPN servers with OpenVPN" @ PLUG-Central for ?

...but I'm happy to do them at North or West first if people want them or the QEMU talk.

I've also mentioned doing some "war games" type events since there seems to be some interest there out of the PLUG North meetings.  Not really a "talk" but that could be an interesting event.  Certainly some other security talks generally would be good- I have some ideas but I'm wondering what other members are thinking.
