Re: [PLUG] Skype

My son lives in Shanghai, and my daughter just moved to Japan. If it wasn't for skype, we'd never see either of them.

The Windows version of Skype can do 3-way video conferencing, while the linux version could only do audio-only conferences.

MS has released an alpha-version of the linux version that brings linux up to windows feature compatibility. I'm looking forward to getting it to work.

What we __REALLY__ need is an open standards video conference. Too bad Apple has not opened facetalk (or whatever they call their system).

Like Rich, I am sure the Chinese authorities are listening in, but there's not too much we say that will interest them. I'm often tempted to simply say words like "plutonium" and "allah akbar", or something that sounds like a code phrase ("the rooster crowed at midnight, but Simon says the package will arrive Tuesday"). Our NSA probably listens with computers, but knowing the Chinese, they've got an army of folks listening with earphones. This might make somebody's day!
