Re: [PLUG] old LVM version on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Hmmmm, I suppose not but this the second time I got nailed by doing something on Arch that wasn't available elsewhere.  No big deal since lvm2 is an easy compile (I just went to .166 which is what Arch is at) but I would think they would at least update to release with new features.

Well, the dependency lists are fairly short, you could probably manually source 2.02.160 from Yakkety. I don't find any PPAs with newer LVM2 for Xenial, though. Honestly, it's not that old, for a core component in a LTS release.

Ubuntu 16.04 still comes with a rather old version of LVM (2.02.133).  Versions under before aabout 2.02.150 lack the more up to functionality of LVM as well as some raid types (e.g. raid1 and raid0).  Its not a big deal to compile a newer version but before I install it I wanted to know if there was a way to check and see if a newer version was available- perhaps one that just isn't the "official" version(s) tracked for released.
