I really hate the "I have nothing to hide, so fuck privacy" argument. But please note that this isnt about Amazon listening in, this is about Amazon sending your private conversations to random people you know. Imagine your burping and yelling getting sent to your boss or relatives....

In my opinion, this is not as much of an infraction as active spying, but this situation defeats that argument.

I have an Echo Dot, love it, use it constantly. Let'em listen to me burp on the couch, or yelling back at the TV, i don't really care. If it mattered, I'd hit the little mute button.

They can probably record the same way from my phone, I'm not giving that up, either.
