The next piece would be connecting in to local capable repeaters. Of course if there is a repeater operator already set up for this and can do it for us then that really is the best way to go.

Perhaps having a PLUG room or talkgroup that is more of a ragchew (i.e. more conversational) might be a way for PLUGers (and others) to gain practice and operating confidence by talking to people they already know.
