Re: [PLUG] Richard M. Stallman resigns

Unfortunately when you look at long term patterns, much of what we are hearing these days is not that surprising.

Yeah its bad, I found out yesterday when I saw FSF's twitter and I looked it up. I actually didn't know about the MIT stuff before. Unfortunately, a lot of the bigger articles are misquoting him or sharing stuff out of context, but IMO there is enough in the email thread (https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/9ke3ke/famed-computer-scientist-richard-stallman-described-epstein-victims-as-entirely-willing) that are unquestionably condemn-able.

There are a lot of good "think pieces" out there now shedding light on how he has always been really toxic and made free software less accessible to minority folks. Apparently, he is really sexist and creepy -- I actually did not know this until I started reading about it. Here is one article that I liked https://medium.com/@selamie/remove-richard-stallman-fec6ec210794

All my best,
Christine

Well, it does that this happened late last week, so it's not like this has been public knowledge for months or anything. It's also the first I've heard of it.

You're right. Thank you. https://www.thedailybeast.com/richard-stallman-famed-mit-computer-scientist-who-defended-jeffrey-epstein-resigns seems like a good summary. Another icon turns out to have clay feet, and I guess I am not as current with news as I thought I was.

It's not about that, unfortunately. It's much worse, you should search it. I am glad he is gone.

Now that's a surprise! I wonder whether it had anything to do with his talking at Microsoft. I guess the times they are a-changin'.
