How do others monitor and/or manage RAM usage in Linux?
I've been running this script from cron for almost a decade: - http://bristle.com/Tips/Unix/memlow Checks free memory, logs it, and if below a min value, emails me an alert. Keeps summary and detailed logs. If I get an email, I can check the logs for a slow leak vs a sudden drop. I'm not even sure anymore where it came from. I've written several hundred such utility scripts. See: - http://bristle.com/Tips/Unix - http://bristle.com/Tips/Mac - http://bristle.com/Tips/Mac/Unix But this seems different from my usual style. I may have gotten it from team member Chris Hunter who was taking over the sysadmin tasks for me on our project. Or maybe one of us just copied it from StackOverflow, or something. Chris, do you remember? 1st version pushed to Git 2/16/2011.
