[PLUG] [plug-announce] Wed Nov 4 - PLUG Central - "Postgres and the Artificial Intelligence Landscape" by Bruce Momjian (7pm online) |
PLUG Central will be meeting on Wednesday, November 4, beginning at 7pm. The meeting will be online. Details are at the bottom of the email. This month, PLUG welcomes back Bruce Momjian. Bruce will be giving a talk entitled "Postgres and the Artificial Intelligence Landscape". Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning are intertwined capabilities that attempt to solve problems that defy traditional computational solutions --- problems include fraud detection, voice recognition, and search result recommendations. While they defy simple computation, they are computationally expensive, involving computation of perhaps millions of probabilities and weights. While these computations can be done outside of the database, there are specific advantages of doing machine learning inside the database, close to where the data is stored. This presentation explains how to do machine learning inside the Postgres database. We'll be using Jitsi Meet, a free and open source videoconferencing platform, for the meeting. The meeting will start at 7 PM. The talk will start at 7:30. Q&A and general chat will follow the talk. You can access the meeting online at https://meet.jit.si/PLUGCentralNovember2020 Jitsi Meet also has apps for iOS and Android. If you decide to use one of those apps, use meeting code "PLUGCentralNovember2020".
