Hi all,

In a commercial setting or even a home setting wouldn't it be prudent to have drives on hand if you need to replace one?  I personally always do a bad block test of every new drive I buy.  After that test, the drive is put away in my safe until it is needed.  When it is needed you can be fairly sure that since the drive has already been tested that it is already to be installed.

To do this I use one of my old systems that are out of service so I'm not tying up resources on a currently running system.

I have been paranoid since I have received some bad new SCSI drives in the past.  Though I have not had any trouble with new drives in the past 15 years or so, I still do the testing before it is required.
