Strong magnets have already been employed.
Drills, punches, LASERS (proper spelling), etc have been considered and all have been rejected as being too labor intensive.

Thermite... now there is an option!
If I make a youtube video of it the cost may be way more than offset... but we'll see :grinning:

I've also taken to using platters from wiped drives to make artwork.

Do you have any favorite drive disposal companies and/or processes?
I filled out a web form for a company that does this, however they wanted to know how many "paper boxes" of drive I had...

PS: I took some of them apart and now have a stack of shiny metal "platters". My propane torch and I know how to deal with those :-D
