I imagine that if you didn't update your spam filters between Friday and Sunday your employees would come into work with a substantial amount of spam in their inboxes every Monday. For every email anybody receives, on average a mail server receives about 6 spam emails. The only reason the problem isn't obvious is that spam filters have gotten pretty good. Most rely on heavy filtering, however. Some Google searches suggest this scanning engine is also used to detect malware, which probably also necessitates daily updates. It doesn't sound like this was some sort of code update (well, aside from the code update to fix the issue after the fact). It sounds like these were scanner signatures. > I don't see anything in the article that says these were daily > updates. I will agree with you that the articles haven't been great on supplying details. -- Rich ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
